Noddy And His Friends - DVDs |
For many years, Noddy just lived in the books created by Enid Blyton, until television became very popular in the nineteen fifties. Parents and teachers rapidly understood that television was a wonderful way to entertain and teach young children, but in an absorbing, happy and educational manner. Noddy was perfect for this activity. It was gentle, everyone had fun, and nothing very disastrous really happened in Toytown where he lived. Generally, the short stories encapsulated a short social point for the finale. For example, if a toy attempted to trick another toy, he would be discovered and ridicule would be his fate. Many instances of 'wrong doing' were only the result of miscomprehension, and after Mr Plod the policemen made the situation very clear, all was well again. Numerous stories are now available on Noddy DVDs. |

In the early days, television was in back and white, but there was more. The cabinet was massive, but the viewing area itself was really small, maybe six or eight inches from corner to corner. Nothing was shwon for most of the day and it finished with a tiny white dot at midnight. The rest of the day, the stations broadcasted a kind of test card, which was used by TV engineers to calibrate the TV set. Early morning time slots and the popular five o'clock slot at tea-time was Noddy's kingdom. Children would wait impatiently before the the television for the show to begin, ready to follow the adventures of Noddy and his Toytown friends.A great many Noddy DVDs are now available, and so kids can enoy them any time, yet another luxurious feature of living in the modern world! The original storieswill always have their appeal - maybe your children would be absorbed with Black and White television! Of course, the subsequent television series' (they were broadcast up to the 70s) were shown in color. The modern incarnation of the adventures of Noddy in Toytown, entitled 'Make Way for Noddy' is produced in 3D, and is now seen in more than one hundred different countries around the globe in various foreign languages - Noddy DVDs can be purchased on Amazon.
